Natalie "Sugar" Berzatto is a secondary character in the comedy drama series The Bear. She is married to Pete and is the sister of Carmy and Mikey Berzatto. She is portrayed by Abby Elliott.

Background[]

Natalie was born on 11/10/88 and grew up on the south side of Chicago with her two brothers, and despite their dysfunctional parents, the siblings had a good relationship growing up. Their father was not an active parent and their mother faced mental health issues, leading to the siblings having to grow up fast.

She married Pete even though her family disliked him, and they bought a house together. Carmy moved to New York to focus on his career and it hurt her that they lost contact. When Mikey decided to open The Original Beef of Chicagoland, she agreed to cosign for him despite knowing that Mikey was having issues dealing with addiction.

Personality[]

Natalie has a very nurturing personality, she grew up having to put everyone else’s needs before her own starting with her mother.

Physical Description[]

Natalie is a pretty woman with white skin and blue eyes. She has dyed blonde hair that she keeps wavy and past her shoulders. She has a little mole just under her nose. She dresses in casual but stylish clothing and accessorizes with her ring and necklaces. By season 3 it is clear that she is getting ready to give birth.

Season 1[]

Natalie Berzatto is the sister of Carmy. When Carmy returns home to Chicago to manage The Original Beef of Chicagoland, Natalie attempts to help him but struggles to connect with him. She is concerned about her brother and his attempts to modernize the rundown restaurant.

Season 2[]

Natalie agrees to be the project manager for the renovations of The Bear restaurant. She is brought in by Carmy and Sydney to assist with the development of the restaurant. Natalie plays a crucial role in the project, particularly in managing the timeline and ensuring that the renovations stay on track. She is instrumental in coordinating the necessary permits and expediting the application process with the help of Cicero.

As the opening of The Bear approaches, Natalie informs Carmy that she is pregnant. Natalie is shown expressing concern for her mother, Donna, and is cautious not to upset her. She is part of the group that debates the origin of the Seven Fishes tradition during a Christmas gathering.

During the final preparations for the soft opening of The Bear, Natalie is responsible for booking reservations and ensuring the profitability of the restaurant. She works alongside Richie to interview front-of-house candidates.
