Plot[]
A young chef from the fine dining world comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after a heartbreaking death in his family. A world away from what he's used to, Carmy must balance the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff and his strained familial relationships, all while grappling with the impact of his brother's suicide. Trivia[]
- The sandwich shop interior is copied from the real-live Chicago shop Mr. Beef on Orleans, in River North. The creator was a frequent patron and friends with the son of the owner, who appears in the series.
- Starting with Season 4, the production title is Windy City Law as a codename for filming.[2] From seasons 1-3, the codename was Kubelik, named after the late Rafael Kubelík, who was the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s music director from 1950 to 1953. Kubelik, which is Czech, translates to “bucket.”[2][3][4]
