The Bear Wiki

"The Bear" is the tenth and final episode of the second season of the series The Bear. It aired on June 22, 2023.

Synopsis[]

Friends and Family night at The Bear.

Plot[]

As The Bear opens its doors for business, Richie assumes the responsibility of managing the front of the house while Sydney takes charge of the kitchen. However, as the evening progresses, a series of issues begin to surface, posing challenges for the team. Chef Josh goes missing, prompting Carmy to step in and assist, disrupting the overall flow. Furthermore, the restaurant unexpectedly runs out of forks, an oversight on Carmy's part. Marcus steps up to help with expediting service, but he struggles, causing delays and falling behind on bread production. To add to the chaos, the handle of the walk-in fridge breaks, trapping Carmy inside.

Responding to the unfolding circumstances, Richie takes charge of expediting while Sydney jumps on the line to help, leading The Bear through a successful first night. Meanwhile, Pete, Natalie's husband, spots Donna outside the restaurant, but she refuses to go in. Inadvertently, he reveals Natalie's pregnancy to Donna, leading her to leave tearfully. Honoring Donna's request to keep her visit a secret, Pete tearfully expresses his pride in Natalie.

Marcus makes a distressing discovery as he finds Josh smoking methamphetamine in the alley, leading to his immediate termination. The mounting stress takes its toll on Sydney, causing her to vomit. In the midst of it all, Carmy finds himself spiraling in the confined space of the walk-in fridge and confides in Tina about his lack of presence in the restaurant due to his relationship with Claire. Unbeknownst to him, Claire overhears this revelation after entering the kitchen, becoming upset and leaving.

A heated argument ensues between Richie and Carmy, but as Carmy reflects on his mistakes, he plays a missed voicemail from Claire before the service began. The voicemail reveals Claire's confession of love for him. Eventually, Carmy is freed from the fridge, while Richie appears defeated, and Sydney finds fulfillment in impressing her father.

Meanwhile, Marcus, unaware of numerous messages from his mother's nurse, receives a gift from Luca—a sign that reads "Every Second Counts"— which he hangs in the kitchen, serving as a poignant reminder of the value of time and the importance of seizing every moment.
